      How to read this map

We count national taxes that target sugary or sweetened drinks, including VAT increases aimed at them and flat drinks taxes. Rates are those we could check in the sources listed for each country; most come from the sugary drink tax map of the Global Food Research Program at the University of North Carolina (March 2026), updated with government sources where rates changed in 2026. Countries marked "not yet documented" have no tax listed in that map; we have not yet verified them ourselves. Status at 2 November 2026. Spotted an error? Tell us.
